Tour De France - Room 26

Poster L'Etendard Francais by Cheret

For three weeks each July, millions of fans from around the world descend upon the French Countryside to cheer on the forçats de la route - the riders competing in the Tour the France. It is the oldest of the three Grand Tours and is generally considered the most prestigious, having been first organized in 1903.

Closer to home, in Los Altos, you can find cycling and a touch of France right here at Enchanté Boutique Hotel. It turns out that Los Altos is a perfect starting point for a number of rides that suit a variety of riding abilities, from the very easy to the very challenging. In fact, many riders gather at Peet’s Coffee on State Street before or after their rides, and you can spot their latest designs of bikes and clothing especially during weekend mornings.

So if you fancy a complete biking experience as a participant, enthusiast, or spectator, we can help create that for you. All manner of bikes are available for rent and delivered right to the hotel. You might request our Tour de France Room to round out your cycling experience - it features the historic poster done in Paris by the famous Jules Chéret - was a major advertising force in the late 1800s. This particular poster, L’Etendard Francais, was made in 1891 for a shop on the Quai d’Orsay selling bicycles and tricycles. The colors in the poster, red, blue and white, are complemented throughout the room, most comfortably in two cozy blue and white wingback chairs that grace the fireplace.
